2008-2009 School Year Volunteer
Allied Arts of Yakima Valley is looking for an enthusiastic school year volunteer who is willing to learn about the business of art. Explore arts merchandising, marketing, web skills, donor management, and strategic planning. Assist Allied Arts management in working with artists, donors, children and participants of all ages. There will be a 30 day and a final evaluation.
This volunteer position is an excellent opportunity to work with professional and community leaders while developing organizational, communication and administrative skills. Allied Arts of Yakima Valley (est. 1962) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the coordination and promotion of arts events in the Valley. Allied Arts focuses on developing artistic and academic skills, community enhancement and economic growth through the arts.
GENERAL
- Maintain office procedures: answer phones, respond to emails, provide information to the public/members/volunteers/staff, filing, supplies, mail, creating spreadsheets, drafting correspondence, minutes, agendas, memos, etc.
Assist on grants, database management, web updates, and communication with patrons, participants, artists and other community members.
Staff events like fundraisers, movies in the park, gallery openings, etc.
TIME COMMITMENT: 5-10 hrs/week
- Hours are to be scheduled by the student, with the approval of Allied Arts supervisors. Ideal hours would be 3-5pm
- The office is open 9am to 5pm daily.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong organizational skills/detail oriented
- Ability to handle numerous projects and tasks concurrently
- Ability to work independently as well as a team
- Enjoy working with a variety of people
- Sense of hospitality
- Enthusiasm for Mission of Allied Arts
- Some Computer experience (Macintosh environment in the office)
- Willing to learn computer skills to increase information availablity

Arts Summer Intern
Allied Arts of Yakima Valley is looking for an enthusiastic summer intern who is willing to learn about the business of art. Explore arts merchandising, marketing, web skills, donor management, and strategic planning. Assist Allied Arts management in working with artists, donors, children and participants of all ages. This position is unpaid, but can be applied to college requirements established by your university. There will be a 30 day and final evaluation.
This internship is an excellent opportunity to work with professional and community leaders while using strong organizational, communication and administrative skills. Allied Arts of Yakima Valley (est. 1962) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the coordination and promotion of arts events in the Valley. Allied Arts focuses on developing artistic and academic skills, community enhancement and economic growth through the arts.
